Websites are easy to build. If you don?t mind including your web host?s company name in your domain name, you might even be able to get some web server space without paying any money out of pocket. Give that some thought. How many funnyname.companyname.com sites have you run across? Of course, if you are serious about your website and your online endeavor, you will want to buy your own web hosting. You keep your options open when you buy your own hosting. No two hosting companies are alike! Choose your hosting company and hosting package very carefully! Here are a few hints to help you out.
Do a ton of research. The sheer number of hosting companies and hosting packages that are available is staggering. Pick a few that seem promising and learn everything you can about them. Look for information on those companies in both online and offline publications. Use reviews. Check into their business practices. There is no such thing as knowing too much about a company. This will be extra true for the company you choose to use because that is the company that will be able to look at your private information and bank account. Ask a bunch of questions. Call or contact every company that you might purchase hosting from. Speak with a human customer service agent. If you are not able to talk to a real person, don?t choose that company! If the company does not provide live people to represent it through the phone or in person, do not trust that company! If a hosting company is legitimate it will provide you with a way to contact a live employee and allow you and that employee to have an impromptu conversation?if this is not provided the company is probably just another internet scam. Even small companies should have at least one person you can talk to. Be wary of any company without live representatives!
Do you have any strong feelings about advertising? Were you thinking about including your own advertising on your website? Are you okay with hosting advertising for someone else? The answers to these two questions will start you on the path to finding the perfect hosting provider. Small personal sites that are run by someone who doesn?t mind showing ads for someone else are well suited to any of the free providers that exist. If, however, you want to sell your own advertising to help make money, you will need to pay for hosting space somewhere. Most paid hosting plans don?t have any rules about selling advertising on websites. Others prefer their sites to be ad free. Make sure that each of your web hosting options meets your individual needs. Making sure that your web hosting company does not take advantage of you can be complicated. Being careful almost always pays off in the end. Asking too many questions and being too careful is impossible. Do not forget that you will be trading your money for the services that this company offers its customers. Be careful about who you allow to access your personal and banking account information. It would be terrible for you to trust someone who turned out to be scam artists. Scam artists are hiding all over the place?even in plain sight! There is no such thing as being too careful.
