Generally, most people lose roughly ten percent of their hair during the resting phase. After about 3 months, the resting hair will fall out and new hair will grow. The new growing hair period will last from two to seven years with hair growing to about a half to a full inch a month. Hair shedding is a normal process that happens to everyone. Actually, on any given day, you lose roughly 100 individual hairs. For the most part hair loss is usually more common in men, but women also experience mane loss. The cause of mane loss could be a number of things to include, after a major surgery, illness, or excessive stress. Also, certain medication such as blood thinners, chemotherapy, antidepressants, birth control, and large doses of vitamin A and hormonal changes within the body will lead to hair falling out. Even though most causes of hair loss are genetic, there are a number of things you can do to slow the process.
For starters, avoid wearing your hair in a pony tail, or corn rows, which pull and stretch the hair and pull it out. Make sure that your diet is in order and you are getting the right amount of nutrients. There are also several over the counter treatments that have been proven to be effective. If you find that nothing is working, you may want to check with your doctor or physician to ensure you are not suffering from any sort of major vitamin deficiency or illness. A simple blood test will be able to determine any number of problems you may be having. stop hair loss
