Ayurveda is a natural (holistic) approach to living a long and healthy life through proper diet, activities and thought process. These three things are what every person in the world will do no matter what their lifestyle is like. For two of these, it's like breathing; we will do it no matter how hard we try not to. Ever try to sit quietly and clear your mind just to find yourself thinking about different things? Sitting completely still will not shut down your activity to zero. Breathing is an activity and you must breathe at some point in order to stay alive. As for eating, we can choose not to eat and be successful; however, it will eventually lead to death by way of malnutrition.

It is said to have been discovered and used in India over 5,000 years ago and is still in use today. The basis of Ayurveda is the concept that the mind and the body work in harmony and need a good balance to stay healthy. This is accomplished through eating a healthy balanced diet because it is believed that the digestive system is the key to good health and eating the right foods keeps your body healthy.

While eating properly, Ayurveda also focuses on the bodies activities such as proper exercise without over exerting oneself. Again it's all about balance. With the balance of a proper diet and exercise routine, it is important to keep your mind healthy as well. This is accomplished through different methods like meditation and training your mind to relax.

The word Ayurveda comes from the two words "ayus" meaning life and "veda" meaning knowledge. There are two types of Ayurveda. One is more of the traditional style of a well-balanced lifestyle while the other, which is known as the Maharishi which focuses strongly on consciousness through meditation and the relationship between the body's health and the health of one's mind.

Ayurveda is considered one of the oldest sciences in healing techniques in history and continues today throughout the world and is becoming more popular in western cultures today. It was originally translated from the texts of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

To stay healthy, everyone needs some sort of balance in the way they conduct themselves through life. Eating right and keeping with a regular exercise routine is a good start, but to go a step much further, turn to the Ayurveda holistic approach which many believe will have you looking and feel younger for a very long life. レイキ
