Where to go in Turkey

Olympos We said at the outset that this list would include places not only for its archaeological value, but also for the beauty of their surroundings. It is this latter case Olympos, whose ruins are not the most spectacular and the best preserved in Turkey, but are situated next to a beautiful beach surrounded by incredible natural landscape that is part of the Olympos National Park. If one moves further by the Monte Yanartas, formerly known as Mount Chimaera, admire the curious phenomenon of the flames that arise spontaneously from the ground through multiple vents, and the sailors already used in antiquity to orient themselves during the night. Termessos Located north of Antalya, Termessos is one of those places that simply because of its location impresses with its theater built in a place that seems as fascinating as possible, on top of a steep mountain. Pisidia lived there, a town that boasted warriors so fierce that even Alexander himself decided not to meet them and spend longer in their long journey of conquest into Persia. In addition to admire Termessos theater itself with its wonderful remains of the necropolis, baths, and several temples, though not without difficulty of terrain. On the main road leading to the city we can see also several rock-cut tombs. Sagalassos As Termessos, Sagalassos was also a mighty bulwark of Pisidia, also built on steep slopes of a steep mountain where the buildings were built taking advantage of the terrain. Since the 90's have been several interesting projects in the city restoration, which was finally abandoned in the seventh century AD after a series of natural disasters. As was the case with Arykanda, Sagalassos is located outside the main tourist circuit, making it ideal for those wishing to visit the ruins alone for a moment and feel part of ancient history.
